It's no secret that our compatriots go to Dubrovnik, which is an hour's drive from the largest city of Herceg Novi closest to the Croatian border, not only for impressions, but also for the sake of a stamp in their passport. In Montenegro, Russian tourists can stay visa-free for three months a year, the maximum single stay is one month. Those who want to spend the whole summer in Montenegro are forced to travel to neighboring countries for a day for a stamp to count the new month and often go to Croatian Dubrovnik for this.

We went to Dubrovnik again with our Russian guests, who, having seen many of Montenegro's sights, wanted to see Dubrovnik as well. I'll say right away that we liked Dubrovnik more this time. Part of the road after the border is still unfinished and covered in large – gravel, as a car overtaking us hit a stone and chipped our windshield. It was a shame 🙁 The day in Dubrovnik turned out to be sunny and dry, unlike the cloudy Bay of Kotor, which we were glad about. Another thing that pleased us was the – prices; since high season was over (it was October 13th), even parking prices were lower; you can park on the street for 5 kuna per hour (!) – is mere pennies (about 0.80 euro cents). This time we were smarter and didn't park in the underground parking lot, which is where all the signs in Dubrovnik point (Public Parking). As it turns out, Dubrovnik residents aren't particularly fond of Montenegrins, especially their cars registered in Herceg Novi (the first two letters on the license plate, HN0000, will tell you so). That's a thing of the past, but there are some outlaws who would happily scratch such a car in retaliation for the bombing of Dubrovnik in 1991 during the Balkan War (read more about that). Here).
This time the people subsided a little, it was not so hot, and we had a pleasant company 🙂

We recommend taking a boat ride around the old town and neighboring islands. There are such boats on the pier near the old town that leave regularly. We paid 10 euros per person for a 50-minute walk, which we did not regret at all, the views were excellent.

Old Town Dubrovnik – view from the sea (during the “cruise”)

Walls of Dubrovnik, Croatia

Wild beach under the fortress wall of old Dubrovnik

This is what Dubrovnik looks like from the pier where ships leave

An unexpected meeting at sea!

At lunch we found a pizzeria where we tasted local pizza with prosciutto at a very affordable price - 2 euros per piece, the same prices on the coast in Montenegro. On the way back, we found a Croatian winery, where we were lured by a free tasting 🙂 The tasting was really free, but here our friends found gifts that they had been looking for for a long time, buying unique liqueurs that are produced only in this winery. Local winemakers told us in detail about the rules of wine production and gave us a taste of juice, wine in the process of fermentation and finished bottled wine. I could not resist and bought one of them as a keepsake 🙂 By the way, here is the FB page of this winery: http://www.facebook.com/LekriDubrovnik

We will be grateful if you "like" this entry in Contact or on Facebook.
