In some places, the epidemic is only gaining momentum (Russia, the United States, the United Kingdom), in others it is at its peak (Italy, Spain, Germany, France), and in others, it has been brought under control and the rate of growth in cases is significantly slowing or has completely stopped (China, South Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, Montenegro).

Some positive news is also coming from countries hardest hit by the coronavirus. The Spanish parliament extended the state of emergency for another 15 days, but Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez stated, "The fire is under our control." Silvio Brusaferro, President of the Italian Institute of Health, noted that the spread of the virus in the Apennine region is clearly slowing, with the number of cases declining daily, as is the number of intensive care patients.

Italy plans to reopen small stationery stores and bookstores starting April 14. Austria and the Czech Republic also plan to reopen some small shops next week. In Denmark, schools and kindergartens will reopen starting April 15, and in Norway, the lockdown will begin on April 20. German Health Minister Jens Spahn stated that if the current trend in new cases continues and there are no new spikes, a "gradual return to normal" is possible after Easter.

With this picture in front of you, you can make some preliminary forecasts for the summer. Although experts from different countries agree that the situation is now changing hourly and sometimes completely unpredictable, some cautious forecasts for the summer period are nonetheless expressed. So let's take a look main tourist destinations in Europe.

1. Spain. Spain ranks second after the United States in terms of the number of infections (163,027) and third in terms of deaths (16,606). However, as we have already discussed, there is also a positive trend. To avoid a second wave of infections, Spain will close its borders for the summer season and begin to develop domestic tourism, according to ABC newspaper.

2. Italy. Italy ranks third after the United States in terms of the number of cases (152,271) but leads in terms of deaths (19,468). This country has also seen positive progress in slowing the spread of the pandemic; it plans to resume production on May 3. Tourism Association President Lorenza Bonaccorsi stated that "it will take one or even two years to return to the previous state," and the 2020 season will likely be "written off." Italy also intends to develop domestic tourism in 2020 without opening its borders.

3. France. France ranks fourth in terms of the number of cases (130,730) and third in terms of deaths (13,832). The country's lockdown is in effect until April 15, but it will likely be extended until the end of the month. Prime Minister Édouard Philippe, speaking to the National Assembly on Wednesday, said, "No country has ever restricted so many people so extensively" and, consequently, "no country has ever released so many people at once" after the lockdown is lifted. This implies that the country will begin lifting restrictions gradually and very carefully. "Ideally, we will release those who have already recovered from COVID-19 first, but this measure will require immediate testing of all remaining citizens within a short period of time." Overall, France is optimistic about the summer season and believes it is entirely feasible.

4. Greece. The country has registered a relatively low number of COVID-19 cases (2,081) and 94 deaths (–). The situation is generally stable, and the rate of spread of the virus has slowed noticeably (see chart). Greece began implementing a quarantine on March 8, imposing fines for non-compliance with COVID-19 regulations. Metropolitan Seraphim was even arrested for several hours for holding a church service during the quarantine. Ferdinando Giugliano writes (for Bloomberg): "Greece has become a notable and even surprising exception" among several European countries that are poorly handling the pandemic. "The government introduced strict social distancing measures much earlier in the epidemic than other southern European countries. For now, this rapid response has helped Greece avoid the tragic health crisis facing wealthier countries." Many experts believe that Greece has every chance of having a successful summer season.

5. Montenegro. The country has registered a total of 267 cases of infection, of which – 4 have been detected today. Montenegro adopted a proactive policy from the very beginning: a strict quarantine regime was introduced even before the first cases of infection were detected. The strict quarantine in the country has lasted for a month now and has been extended until the end of April. Considering that the country is completely dependent on tourism, the country's residents have approached quarantine measures responsibly and almost everyone is fully complying with them. Thanks to this, the number of infections has been minimal in recent days – +2, +5, +4 (see graph). Director of the Health Institute Boban Mugoša stated that quarantine measures will be gradually lifted from the end of May. Despite the global pandemic, Montenegro is preparing for the season: work has begun on the improvement of 8,000 m2 of the embankment in the Slovenska Obala district of Budva, where a park area and a large playground will be located; large-scale road works are underway in Tivat, new interchanges are being built; Kotor's horrific traffic jams will finally be resolved. An underground tunnel is currently being built from the pier to the Old Town. Montenegro is doing everything possible to make the 2020 summer season a reality.

[152

post-52330","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-useful-tips
["GET
