Dobrota is an amazing place, both for its history and for its beauties. And if you get a chance to relax here - be sure to take it! There is an opinion among tourists that there are no beaches in this place, there are no sights at all, and in general life is boring, and the rest will be ruined. Do not believe such statements! Dobrota is a great place to relax, and perhaps one of the best in Boka. There are beaches here, albeit not as large as in the Budva Riviera; There are also many attractions that cannot be described even within the framework of one article! We will talk about them further.

Dobrota, which stretched in a narrow strip along the coast of the bay for as much as six kilometers, has now completely merged with which and it is impossible to find a place where the dividing line passes. We will start our virtual tour from the place where the road in the area of the shopping center "Kamelia" turns from the Adriatic highway to a calm embankment. Here, in the very first building to the left of the road, there is a konoba "Akustik" ("konoba" in Montenegro is a small, often family restaurant). By the way, the restaurant is very good, there will be time - be sure to take the opportunity to sit on the terrace overlooking the bay and cruise ships passing by.

Dobrota beach starts right from the restaurant. It is small, only 200-250 meters in length, but it has everything you need, including a shower, a changing cabin and a rescue tower, and there are usually very few people even in the season - it will not be difficult to find a place under the sun.

Having passed the beach to the end, on the other side of the street you will see an old two-story stone building. Here, in an old mansion, "Hostel 89" is located. Why such a strange name? Yes, everything is simple - the hostel is located at the address: street of the First Bokel Brigade No. 89 - that's the whole mystery. And the owner of the hostel, apparently, was too lazy to come up with something original - such is the Montenegrin way of life.

The name of the embankment should be given a few words. The "First Bokel (shock) brigade" was formed on October 5, 1944 in the village of Zuptsy near the town of Trebinje. It consisted of a total of 4 battalions. In the bay area in October 1944, the fighters defeated the German garrisons in Biel, Baosici, Dzhenovichi and Kumbor, then, together with the second Dalmatian brigade, participated in the liberation Risan. On November 22, 1944, two battalions of the First Bokel Brigade cleared Budva from the fascist invaders, two days later - the city Bar, then - Ulcinj, Podgorica, Kolasin and others. The year before last, the 70th anniversary of the creation of the brigade was celebrated. But let's go back to our days!

Walking a little further along the embankment, on the right you will see a two-story blue building resembling a palace. This is the Maritime Faculty of the University of Montenegro - the only state higher educational institution that has been operating since 1959 and producing first-class personnel for the country's navy.

There are many different cafes and restaurants on the promenade itself, the prices are absolutely democratic. There is also European cuisine here, you can taste pizza with spaghetti and Montenegrin cuisine, and the views are just great. It seems that you will never be able to enjoy such views of the bay, these boats parked near the shore in small bays, as well as the tiny houses of the villages of Muo and Prcanj - located on the other side of the bay!

Fishermen have chosen a place on a patch near the embankment, next to a supermarket and a bakery (in our opinion, this is a bakery). Here in the morning you can buy fresh fish directly from the boat. To the right of the fishermen, on a cape jutting out into the water, there is another building with an incredible history. Once the palace of the noble Radonichich family, where Vladyka Peter II from the famous and revered in the local area Petrovich-Negushi dynasty even visited on vacation. Now this building houses the Institute of Marine Biology (Institut za biologiju mora) - one of the research institutions of the University of Montenegro.

By the way, if you walk past him, be sure to go to his territory. Passing the institute building, at the very end of the cape on a ledge, you will find a small chapel and a cross on the reef. The chapel dedicated to St. Elias, one of the oldest churches in the region, seems to be seeing off sailors on long voyages, promising to protect them from adversity and storms on their journeys.

Part two

Last time we made a stop near the Institute of Marine Biology, this time we will go even further, because Kindness is not over yet and we have a long way to go! In fact, we have not passed even a third of the city and there is still a lot of interesting things ahead.

Having overcome a few more hundred meters, right behind the former building of the local library, at a sharp turn on a hill, we see a church - it is impossible to miss it. This is the Church of St. Matthew, revered by the inhabitants of Dobrota. But the eye immediately notices that something is wrong with this church, or rather with the thick walls erected here, protecting the base of the hill from the bay. It turns out that once the church was turned into a fort, and on the platform in front of the entrance there were cannons that prevented the advance of enemy ships into the harbor! Fortunately, now everything is quiet and peaceful and nothing prevents vacationers from enjoying peace and quiet.

Immediately behind the church complex of St. Matthew, hotels and beaches of Dobrota-2 begin. Here we will not find such space as at the very beginning of the city. The beaches are often small, ten or two meters. Some are for public use, and some belong to some private hotel. Restaurants, as elsewhere in Montenegro - a large selection and for every taste. I would like to mention a cozy place called "Day and Night", where you can taste local specialties.

I would like to separately mention the palaces of this area. If you are interested in architecture, then you will get a real pleasure by exploring the estates of the ancient noble families of Dobrota: Milosevic, Dobinovich, Tripkovichi and others. The palaces of the prominent Montenegrin nobility are usually called "chambers" by the locals. All of them are marked with signs placed along the road. Each family sought to outdo its neighbors in terms of the scope of building its family mansion, which led to the emergence of a number of architectural masterpieces that have survived to this day.

The most grandiose building, impressive for its size and luxury, is the Tripković Chamber. The magnificent Baroque building of the palace, built at the end of the 18th century, recalls the greatness of the Tripkovich family. The sphere of interests of the family, which gave the world 63 captains, concerned shipping, trade and construction. One of the Tripkoviches was even able to lead the city Kotor. In addition to this mansion, the family owned 6 houses, however, none of them could compare in beauty and splendor with the palace in Dobrota.

Moving on, almost to the very end of Dobrota, we will find ourselves next to another interesting Catholic church - St. Eustathius. The building of the church is distinguished by its luxurious baroque style and rich interior decoration. Its construction was made possible thanks to the economic support of the famous captain families of Dobrota. The interiors, inventory and a collection of other treasures of the temple became evidence of the increased economic power of the settlement in the 17th-18th centuries. Money for the temple was donated by many residents of the city, but the main contribution was made by the wealthy families of Dabinovich, Ivanovich, Tripkovich, Radimir and Kosovich.

There is much more to tell, but, as they say, it is better to see everything with your own eyes, and we are absolutely sure that you will not regret coming here for a vacation!
