Montenegro is beautiful at any time of the year - so we advise you to come here in any season. Despite the extremely modest size of Montenegro, the nature, geography and climate of this country are extremely diverse. You only need to decide what type of holiday you prefer and what you expect from Montenegro.
The Adriatic coast of Montenegro has a mild Mediterranean climate - there are warm winters and comfortable summers, the thermometer rarely rises above +30º even in the hottest months. In winter, there is no snow on the coast, as a rule, the temperature does not drop below +5º C, but rain and wind are not uncommon. Inland, in the mountains, the climate becomes colder, similar to the Alps, in the ski resorts the temperature reaches -15º C in winter, and rises to +25º C in summer.
Summer in Montenegro is the time for beach and outdoor activities. On the coast, the swimming season lasts from May to September. The largest influx of tourists occurs in July and August - at this time the most expensive flights and the highest prices for housing, double or even triple the prices in the "low" season.
The mountains are open for outdoor enthusiasts, recreation on Skadar lake, hiking and camping in nature reserves (Durmitor and Lovcen), rafting on the Tara River.
Spring and autumn in Montenegro are considered the "middle" season. This is a beautiful and warm time, ideal for romantic walks and long trips around Montenegro, when hot weather and crowds of tourists are unable to spoil a beautiful shot and impressions. Prices are noticeably lower than in the high season, and the tourist infrastructure works just as well. Just in case, take a windbreaker or raincoat.
Those who are truly in love with the "country of black mountains" come to the coast of Montenegro in winter. On the coast, winter is considered the “low” season, prices are as low as possible, and local residents, not spoiled by the attention of tourists, are especially hospitable and friendly. Most cafes and restaurants are closed until spring, and you have at your disposal those places where locals go - arm yourself with a Russian-Serbian phrasebook and strike up a casual conversation - and you will learn a lot of interesting things first hand!
In the mountains, the high season is from December to March. The most popular ski resorts are Zabljak and Kolasin, here the snow cover lasts up to 120 days a year.
