New season 2014 - we invite you to time travel! Imagine that we are back in time 2 centuries ago! You are a resident of the port city of Lepetane and you produce honey, because Lepetane is sun-kissed for almost the whole day, and your yard is literally surrounded by honey-bearing sage, on which bees flock from your apiary. You sell your honey in a village on the other side of the mountain - Prcanj. Prcanj does not have as much sun as Lepetane, and therefore beekeeping is not so developed there. And so on Sunday you go to the market - on foot - along the mountain, through mountain passes, streams and villages along the way. You go picking healing mint and sage and enjoy the breathtaking views of the Bay of Kotor all the way - and may you go to this market every summer month - the view never gets used to such views!
So, along the way, we will meet one of the oldest surviving churches in these places (dating from about the 11th century!), Which climbed to a height of as much as 450 meters above sea level! - no wonder, because it offers panoramic views of Tivat and modern Porto Montenegro!
We will definitely pass by the largest city of those times - a real open-air museum - the village of Gornja Lastva - where we will grab olive oil - also for sale in the market in Prcanj. At one time Gornja Lastva had 13 olive presses and was the center of olive oil production in these parts. Today, one such press has been preserved almost in its original state, the doors of which will be kindly opened for us by local residents and treated to their homemade prosciutto and cheese, as well as tea from local mountain herbs!
Leaving the views of Tivat, we will climb to a mountain pass and find ourselves in a mysterious forest - you will understand why it is called mysterious when a goblin jumps out from behind a moss-covered stone to meet us! After that, we will see the views of the Kotor part of the Bay of Kotor, we will go down the man-made steps made of huge stone slabs and admire how much work was put into the creation of this “main” path. Descending along the mountain springs and cliffs that gave this path its name, we will now enjoy the views of Prcanj and Dobrota in the pleasant shade of the overhanging treetops. In the end, we will turn to the Church of the Little Mother of God, built by sailors at an altitude of about 200 meters above sea level in the 16th century, wander through its ruins and go down to the Church of the Virgin on the coast - the only Catholic church of its kind of such scale and architecture. This place used to be the main square and the market, which is our destination! At your request, we can stop for a cup of coffee in a cafe at the water's edge, gradually returning to reality! A huge number of photos and impressions will remain in your memory for a long time, promising to become a real culmination of your vacation!
