Our journey begins in the ancient city Perast - once a small fishing village and a haven for pirates, and in the future a large trading and border city with the Ottoman Empire (Turks), under the patronage of Venice. The city was famous for its shipyard and the best naval school, where Russian princes and boyars, sent by Peter I, studied at one time.
Climbing the Voronya Gora (“Vranovo brdo”, height 744 m above sea level) passes along the old Austro-Hungarian road, which will lead us to the abandoned village of Glogovac and the Catholic Church of St. John of the 15th century (here you can try to guess the inscription in Latin, carved in a stone opening!). Passing by picturesque groves and giant stone heaps, we will have stunning views of Bay of Kotor and the Verige Strait. Ahead of us is the majestic fortress of St. Andria, built by the Venetians in the 15th century. The fortress served as a border point with the Ottoman Empire; after a long period of neglect, the fortress was again restored and fortified by the Austro-Hungarians in the 19th century. Once at the very top, you will understand why this particular place was chosen for the construction of the fortress - the mountain offers an impressive panoramic view not only of the Bay of Kotor, but also the sunset from the Adriatic Sea.
