In more early posts I wrote about how we applied for a Schengen visa in Montenegro for a trip to Italy, on vacation (here we are! 🙂). Having safely received a visa, we chose eternal Rome as the destination city, we have already been to Italy, but Rome somehow bypassed it ... We can talk a lot about Rome for a long time, the city, of course, is beautiful, full of history, character and other Italian virtues, but this is not the topic of our blog. However, a photo report on a trip to Rome can be viewed link. And we will move on to what these modest works are devoted to, namely, to beloved Montenegro.
I'm happy to note that after the cobbled streets and piazzas of Rome, we were terribly homesick for the natural beauty of Montenegro. We drove back from the airport along the dark, winding roads of this mountainous country, greedily inhaling the fresh sea air from the open car windows. Our first stop at a Vuk Petrol gas station to buy something to drink promised a pleasant surprise – juice cost only 50 cents – a mere pittance compared to Italy, where the same juice would have cost between 1 and 1.5 euros!
So, Montenegro invariably pleases with its prices for products, and most importantly, their relationship with quality. Here are some price comparisons in restaurants and cafes:
Montenegro Italy
Coffee 0.8-1 euro 1.5-2.5 euro
Beer 1.5-2.5 euros 4 euros
Pizza 6.5 euros 10-20 euros
Average lunch 10 euros 20 euros
Walking tour of the Vatican 2.5 hours - 40 euros per person (entry ticket to the Vatican Museum included). The cost of most bus and car excursions in Montenegro from a few hours to a whole day does not exceed this amount.
One metro ride (Rome) 1.5 euros. There is no metro in Montenegro, so Montenegro is again in the lead, and a bus trip between the cities of Montenegro will cost no more than a few euros.
Accommodation (in Rome, an average one-bedroom apartment or studio) costs 70-120 euros per night. During high season in Montenegro, similar apartments can be rented from 40 euros, depending on the location.
Of course, Italy is beautiful and worth visiting at least once in a lifetime. However, we were again convinced that Montenegro is ahead or at least not inferior to many resort destinations in the world in terms of prices, nature and the uniqueness of historical sights. In addition, in Montenegro it is much more convenient for the average Russian tourist, where he is perfectly understood in Russian. In Italy, for example, Italians barely speak English, not to mention Russian. Welcome to Crnu Gora! 🙂
