We will visit with you monastery Praskvica, located above Sveti Stefan, Moraca Monastery and Piva Monastery, which skillfully hid from prying eyes in the quiet north. All these monasteries have a rich history, traditions preserved for centuries, and several significant relics. In addition to the holy places, we will also see colorful canyons (the deepest in Europe!), glacial lakes, national parks, impregnable mountain peaks, cavesAnd on the shores of Durmitor's largest lake, Black Lake, you can enjoy horseback riding, unforgettable mountain views, the purest mountain air, stunning photography, freshly picked wild strawberries and blueberries, cheese tasting in shepherd's huts, and much more!
So what are you waiting for?
Day 1
1. Before leaving the coast yet, we will turn into the little-known village of Chelobrdo, where Monastery Praskvica. This ancient monastery, founded in the 11th century, for many centuries was not only the spiritual, but also the political center of the famous Pashtrovich family (who lived in the Budva Riviera since ancient times). Many people contributed to the development and restoration of the monastery, but the story of a Russian monk who laid out the path to the monastery with his own hands stands out the most.
2. Then we go to the mountains, to the north of Montenegro. On our way will lie the famous Moraca monastery complex, located on a steep bank above the Moraca canyon;
3. Quite hungry, we will have lunch in a small local restaurant at an altitude of 1060 meters above sea level, where the national dish KACHAMAK is perfectly prepared, and at the same time we will enjoy an amazing view of the mountain ranges of Montenegro;
4. At the end of this eventful day, the DEEPEST CANYON of Europe awaits us – Tara river canyon, as well as the majestic arched Dzhurdzhevich bridge – accordingly, the highest automobile bridge in Europe.
5. We'll spend the night in an authentic mountain hotel with breakfast and, full of energy, set off on new adventures!
Day 2
6. We will visit G. Zabljak A renowned ski resort and, in summer, a center for active recreation, Žabljak boasts pristine air, the scent of pine trees, and neat streets lined with wooden houses. Situated at 1,700 meters above sea level, Žabljak is the highest town in the Balkans!
7. Let's walk around the famous Black Lake, one of 18 glacial lakes within Durmitor National Park. A holiday in Durmitor National Park will appeal to both families with children and outdoor enthusiasts – the natural beauty here is simply breathtaking!
In Durmitor, you can ride bicycles, toy cars, and velomobiles. We'll take a swim in the Black Lake, which stands out for its unique emerald color and is so clear that it can be seen up to 9 meters deep. If you wish, we can visit Snake Lake and much more. New for the 2014 season is an adventure park and zip line right above the Black Lake, equally popular with children and adults!
8. We will pass by car on the territory of the Durmitor National Park, constantly stopping and admiring the breathtaking views of the mountains, lakes and valleys of Durmitor.
9. Let's see the famous Piva Lake and Piva MonasteryPiva Monastery, built in the 16th century during the Ottoman Empire, is known for its unique frescoes, holy relics, and valuable religious objects. At one point, Piva Monastery was dismantled stone by stone… but only here will you discover the reason for this!
ATTENTION: the journey takes several hours. If you will be with children, take everything you need with you in advance so that they can comfortably endure the trip. There will be many serpentine roads on the way, if you get very sick on such roads, we advise you to prepare in advance for the excursion (there are good preparations for motion sickness) or take it one of the last ones when you get used to the Montenegrin serpentine.
