There are many monasteries and churches on the territory of Montenegro, which indicates that faith in God has always occupied an important position in the life of Montenegrins. Some monasteries were destroyed, but most still function today. Let's take a closer look at the Orthodox world of Montenegro.
So, during the tour we will visit:
1. Daibabe monastery. The monastery only looks like an ordinary church from the outside, but if you go inside, you can find a whole underground complex. The history of the construction of the monastery is quite interesting. Once, a peasant had a dream in which a saint buried in these places asked him to build at least a small church in honor of his holy teacher. The peasant told his dream to the Monk Simeon, and he understood that the disciple of St. Sava was addressing them, whose relics had just been hidden from the Turks in these places. Thus, at the end of the 19th century, the monastery church was built. On the walls of the caves, you can still find paintings of St. Simeon.
2. Monastery Ostrog. Great is the glory of the Orthodox Ostrog Monastery, which was built in a rock at an altitude of about 800 meters above sea level in the 17th century by St. Basil of Ostrog, whose relics are now buried inside the monastery. Ostrog Monastery is one of the central shrines of Orthodox Montenegro and an active participant in the political life of the Balkans, hiding a turbulent past behind its walls.
3. The capital of Montenegro is Podgorica. We will visit the main sights of the capital - the Millennium Bridge, the monument to Vysotsky, the monument to Pushkin and Natalya Goncharova - presented by Russia as a sign of friendship between the two countries. Podgorica is the financial and industrial center of Montenegro; here is the largest winery "Plantage", which produces the beloved "Vranac" (red wine) and Krstac (white wine).
4. Restaurant of national cuisinewhere we will taste the most delicious Montenegrin dishes.
